My name is Marissa Moon. I was born in Chicago and raised in the suburbs. I graduated top of my class from Batavia High School, Class of 2016. I then went and continued my education at Indiana University where I received licenses in Elementary Education, Elementary Special Education, and Middle Grades Math.

Through my high school and college educations, I have been able to experience and interact with a wide-variety of classrooms. In high school I interned in a 4th grade class, a K-2 Special Ed class, and an 8th grade Math class. I loved every single experience which is why I pursued licenses to teach them all!

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I love watching students become independent learners and am a proud proponent of being a life-long learner. I want students to be excited about learning and feel accomplished when they leave my classroom every single day. I give my students as many different tools as possible for them to be successful and for them to learn how they learn best. I understand that one way is not the best way and want to be able to help my students learn how they learn best. I try to not only set my students up for success in their future classrooms but also in their lives.

Technology has become such a huge thing in our world today. I was lucky enough to grow up in the transition period for technology. I went to elementary school when computers were rarely used. We had one computer lab and one computer in each classroom that we used scarcely. By the time I graduated high school, every student in my district had their own Chromebook to use daily. While studying at IU I learned so many new programs and websites that I can't wait to try out in a classroom. I plan to use technology as much as possible without being dependent on it. I understand that technology is an essential tool to be proficient in in our world, however I want my students to understand that they don't need their computers for everything that they do. I hope that I can teach my students responsible use of technology and give them the tools to be successful in whatever future they choose.
