Description:

Piktochart is an awesome resource to create beautiful infografics and charts.

Piktochart features templates to help me create beautiful masterpieces easily. I can add charts and graphs, text and images and lots of other cool things. I could use this as a resource to create materials or posters to hang around my classroom. Using the templates saves me time to come up with other cool projects making it more efficient. I could also use Piktochart as an assignment for my students to demonstrate their learning about a particular topic. I think that the site is engaging and the creations are visually appealing which make them better to look at, keeping the students engaged. This also creates concise forms of information which makes the learning easier and more effective since they are only looking at small pieces of the most important information

Symbaloo is a site where I will put links to my favorite websites to use. You can click on the symbols and it will take you right to the different sites, no need to type in the url! It will save you time. Some of the resources are ones we will use in the classroom for students to practice at home as well, and some of the sites will be options for additional resources and practice. All of the websites are tested and approved by me. I suggest if students are in need of some extra practice on a topic, come here and look for a link, chances are it will be here! Symbaloo makes it easy to access these sites and even easier for me to share resources with my class. I also put websites that I use to create certain assignments so you can see how I made them and try to make something similar in the future! This is a great resource for both students and parents looking for some great education-related sites tried and approved by yours truly!

My teacher website provides information about me and what I plan to do in my classroom as a teacher. This website allows for students and teachers to access my work and see how I plan to integrate technology into my future classrooms. On my website there are many links to resources and tools that will enhance student learning and provide teachers with tools they can use in their classrooms.

This is a Flipchart I created for my service learning class to use on their Promethean Board. A Promethean Board is an interactive white board that the students and teacher are able to write on, click, and flip through as they progress through their lesson. A Flipchart is like a PowerPoint that has slides to guide a lesson, but has interactive features to accompany the Promethean Board. This Flipchart goes through the whole lesson. It starts with a link to the introduction video I created and goes through questions to guide the lesson followed by my screencast to do a safe search for their project and ending with instructions for the project.

I used Active Inspire to create this. It is the program that my teacher using to create things for their Promethean Board. It has templates which helped me create my Flipchart and my teacher also sent me examples that she has used in her classroom. It was a free program to download and super simple to use and create an engaging activity for the students.

My teacher said that this was a program and feature that her students were already familiar with so I thought that this would help the activity be more effective since they are used to seeing these features. Also I was able to combine the basic lesson plan with the supplemental videos I created to form an all in one package for my teacher.

Powtoons is a tool where I can make interactive slideshows or videos that having moving parts and are educational.

Since I am able to have moving objects on the screen, it will help students stay engaged while watching. I am also able to use themes already made or use templates from the site to look at resources that other teachers have created for their students. Since I am able to make these ahead of time, I am able to be more efficient in the classroom. I can add in my voice or other sounds if I wanted to narrate the video. This video talked about how to be safe online and the importance of internet safety.

The hour of code certificate you see above is a certificate that I received after completing a game from the hour of code website. I played the Frozen game, which was created for children of all ages and was focused on coding to get Elsa to skate across the ice to meet her sister. This game was challenging at times, but rewarding when you were able to problem solve and get Elsa to where she needed to go. After completion of this game, you receive a certificate to reward you on a job well done. This certificate encourages students to push through the harder and more challenging levels so that they can receive this reward.  I found the game beneficial towards student based learning through technology as it allowed them to problem solve and code using the internet.
